It contains platypus and native fish species in the reservoir. John Henderson for the Brisbane Board of Waterworks designed the Gold Creek Dam. It was built in 1886 to increase water supply for Brisbane.

This little known beauty is just 30 minutes from Brisbane. I did the 5.5km Gold Creek Reservoir Circuit which takes you around the dam through some secluded forest with the sound of bellbirds & other bird calls all around you. I went in an anti clockwise direction which involved walking across the dam wall/spillway to hook onto the track.
